Coaching is an accompanied and solution focussed process. Coaching is designed to improve existing skills, competence and performance, and to enhance personal and professional development or personal growth.

The process of coaching is designed according to your individual needs. Once the problem area is cleared, the aim and possible solution strategies are systematically developed.
The coach is supportive by helping the client to develop his own resources, new skills and abilities which are necessary to achieve its objective, while implementing them into everyday life.
Based on a good working relationship a coaching session acts as a mental wellness program, which lets you more relaxed, calmer and more confident return to your everyday life.

Everyone. The title is not protected, so no license or training for the profession is necessary. Although there are numerous trainings for the profession of coaches, but many still practice it without a solid craft. The training to become a coach are applied very differently. Some institutes hand out certificates for ‘personal coach’ after participating in a weekend seminar.
Targeted personalized training demands a set of skills and experience.

The main difference is defined by the legal situation:
Psychotherapy is a general term for treating mental health issues; the problems addressed are psychological in nature and can vary in terms of their causes, influences, triggers and potential resolutions.
Coaching is a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve.
It may happen that within the context of coaching a client experiences and discovers clinical issues. In such a case a coach without clinical training is required to cancel the coaching immediately.
As a psychotherapist I highly recommend discussing the situation with my client to find an appropriate solution and hopefully convert coaching into therapy.
